Information for this list was compiled from a survey of private schools in the area.

The Virginia Council for Private Education (VCPE) is the only organization that has recognition from the Virginia Board of Education to oversee the accreditation of private elementary and secondary schools. VCPE may be contacted at (804) 423-6435 or http://www.vcpe.org. VCPE accreditation is noted on this list with a diamond (♦). Schools that are candidates for VCPE accreditation are marked with two diamonds (♦♦).

Some schools affiliated with national groups are accredited by those organizations and do not seek state accreditation.

This list includes only those private schools that offer kindergarten and higher grade levels. (We do not list schools that are only for pre-schoolers.)

Basic information includes the school name, address, type of school, enrollment, ages or grade levels, tuition or fee range (if provided), telephone number and/or Web site. (Please note: PK is pre-kindergarten and JK is junior kindergarten.)
