Monroe Park, Belvidere and West Franklin streets, is Richmond's oldest and most significant park. It is adjacent to the Virginia Commonwealth University Monroe Park campus and is within the boundaries of the Historic Fan District.

Statues in the park include: Joseph Bryan, General Fitzhugh Lee and Confederate General Williams Carter Wickham.

This city park, established in 1851, has been the site of agricultural exhibitions and was a major training and camp ground for Confederate troops during the Civil War. Virginia Military Institute cadets under "Stonewall" Jackson drilled recruits in this park early in the war (credit richmondgov.com).
