Part of the 1862 Seven Day's Battles
Part of the two-mile Union front that Confederates unsuccessfully attacked on June 26, 1862 lies at Beaver Dam Creek at Ellerson's Mill. Few Confederates crossed the stream as Union artillery and infantry fire stopped General Robert E. Lee's attack all along the line. A pedestrian bridge allows visitors to cross over the creek and see the site of the heaviest fighting of the battle.
